Rayna Berggren is a writer from Santa Monica, California currently living in Brooklyn. She graduated from Columbia University with a BA in Creative Writing in 2021.
Her one act play “The Vineyard” ran for six performances at The Secret Theatre, as part of the Queens Short Play Festival, where it won Best Play in March 2024. It was directed by Caitlin Mayernik and starred Arman Hakimattar, Cameron Scott Roberts, and Rebecca Jimenez.
In August 2024, Rayna and three other playwrights put on The August Plays, a festival of one acts at the Producers Club. Her play “Best Daughter” was directed by Grace Cahill and starred Patricia Randell and Brynn Gauthier. “The Vineyard” was once again directed by Caitlin Mayernik and starred Cameron Scott Roberts, Jake Regensburg, and Rebecca Jimenez.
Bushwick, her original pilot script, is a half hour comedy about two 20-something friends who realize they’re already behind. It had its first reading in a living room in December 2024, and it was read again at Naked Angels Tuesdays@9 in January 2025.
She’s currently working on a full length version of “The Vineyard” called Summering and a new pilot script about a friend group after one friend opens a restaurant.
“The Vineyard” is being published in Best Short Plays of 2025 by Smith & Kraus.
